Objectives of the Apalachee Land Conservancy

To acquire, manage, and preserve environmentally significant lands in the Apalachee region for the use and enjoyment of its present and future citizens. Such lands include:

  • Environmentally Ssensitive lands, such as flood plains and wetlands;
  • Open space lands in urban and suburban areas to preserve greenspace and scenic areas;
  • Critical Habitat for endangered species and other wildlife.

Specific activities of the Conservancy

  • Informing landowners, their advisors, and the public at large of voluntary land preservation techniques and incentives for private land protection.
  • Receiving donations of land and conservation easements.
  • Cooperating with local groups and government agencies to identify and protect environmentally sensitive and open space lands.
  • Establishing green corriders by linking urban wildlife habitat with previously protected environmentally sensitive lands.
